About
Charlie joined Harmans in November 2018, after completing his studies at the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Laws. He was appointed an Associate of our busy family law team in November 2022.
Charlie specialises in:
- relationship property and spousal maintenance disputes.
- the protection of assets prior to a relationship.
- the division of assets upon separation including personally owned assets, companies and trusts.
- care of children, guardianship and family violence disputes.
- Lead Legal Aid Provider
Charlie is a member of the Te kōmiti ture-ā-whānau o te hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa (Māori Family Law Committee). He is dedicated to promoting the rights of Māori and to improving access to justice for Māori communities. He is also a member of the New Zealand Law Society Family Law Section and Family Courts Association of New Zealand (Christchurch).
In addition to his legal expertise, Charlie is also an accomplished athlete and avid sports enthusiast. He has played representative cricket for Hawke’s Bay, and is an active committee member of the Weedons Cricket Club.
Charlie also gives back to the community by being a key contributor to the Ronald McDonald House and It Takes A Village charities.
